Matariki Soup and Sleepover

Room's 4, 5 and 6 had a busy day making soup and bread for our evening kai. Our fabulous parents and whanau came with blankets and sleeping mats for a comfortable night in the classroom. After tea we had a swim and then off to bed to talk and talk and talk until the small hours. A big thanks to everyone who came and support this exciting event.

We had a fantastic day out at the Groynes with Peter and his crew. Thanks so much to all of them for a wonderful experience.

Learning Friends

Reading
Nistha and Leila have completed their independent reading activity to a very high standard again this week. They are very successful learning friends. They focus on the information and then practise reading in both te reo Maaori and English. Both, Nistha and Leila, are able to look for the messages in their reading and share their ideas with the group.

Nistha has included the garden of Tane in her foreground.

Leila has captured the dawn and included the birds in their nests.

Raise Responsibility

We have been having a great time in the Middle Team sharing our teaching and learning. Ask your children what they have been learning about, 'how we learn' and who their teacher has been.
Jaime Steele is working in Room 6 and has been teaching risk taking through art and looking at the work of Richard Killeen. Felicity Rea is working in Room 5 and has been investigating how sleep, food and exercise help us to learn. In Room 4 we have been looking at our behaviour levels and how we can raise our responsibility by following school procedures, being positive in our thoughts, words and actions; and using solving circles to resolve problems independently. The aim of this programme is to grow our children's level of responsibility for their learning.
